The purpose of this tool is to enable the installer to set the gain of an audio amplifier to match the source unit’s output level, accurately and quickly. It can also be useful for detecting distortion in the audio signal caused by poorly designed or malfunctioning audio equipment.
What is the difference between this and the original DD-1+?
- Sets audio system gain overlap, continuously variable from 0.0dB - 15.0dB in 0.1dB steps
- Checks gain overlap of an audio system without making any adjustments to the existing settings
- Verifies that the gain overlap of an install hasn't been tampered with after install
- Features our Patent Pending Distortion Detection system plus digital microcontroller and our proprietary firmware
- 200V maximum input (same as DD-1 HV)
- Quasi-RMS voltmeter (can detect clipping at any frequency)

No problem setting the gain on my monoblock. Haven't got to the overlap portion of it yet. My Helix V EIGHT processor is another story. Since it's already tuned for the most part. Guess I would have to do a factory reset on it and go from there. Or maybe just start a new profile and go from there setting the gain. Maybe if the shop that did my original install had the dd-1+ when they were tuning this set up with 2 4 channel DD amps and a Audio control D-608 I wouldn't have blown my Focal tweeters in 2 days. And someone from Audio Control allegedly did the tuning with the 608.

SMD Does it Again!
I upgraded to this one from the DD-1HV and I must say, I love the new features. Makes setting gains and overlap simple and pain free! A must have for any Tech!
